Lure Fishing 2
How are fish caught by Lures?
The origin of lure fishing:  It is said that long long ago, there was a fisher man in Europe who dropped a spoon into the lake while eating. He noticed that so many trout swum around the spoon and wanted to eat it, that he realised the new fishing sport of Lure Fishing.
Why do  fish try to eat the lure?
There are 2 feasible reasons:
Firstly, the fish may be mistaking the lure for real small fish and want to eat them. We can see from the lure’s surface. That is why some of the most successful lures have the look and characteristics of real fish.
Secondly, and generally speaking, the fish are generally very territorial and will defend their space. They see other ‘fish’ in their space and try to bite them to scare them off. The natural predatory/defensive action makes some fish very prone to Lure Fishing. They will naturally attack the lure.
The main action of any lure is to attract the fish being hunted. This is done by various means – The possible features of successful lures: The lure needs to look like a real fish, or it needs to shine/shimmer in the water, it needs also to move in the water at the required depth similar to the fish it is trying to emulate.
